Youth is not a time of life.
It's a state of mind.
It's a temper of the will,
A quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions,
A predominance of courage over timidity,
And appetite for adventure over love of ease.
젊음이란 人生의 어느 한 時期를 말하는 것은 아니다
그것은 마음의 어떤 狀態인 것이다
그것은 意志의 硬度이며,
想像力의 質이며,感情의 强度이자,
卑怯한 것에 對한 勇氣의 勝利이며,
安逸을 즐기는 것에 對한 冒險心의 優越인 것이다.

Nobody grows old by  merely living a number of years,
People grow old only by deserting their ideals.
Years winkle the skin, but
To give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul,
Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and  despair
These bow the head  and
Turn the growing spirit back to dust.
여러 해 동안 그저 살았다고 해서 늙는 사람은 없다.
사람이란 그들의 理想을 抛棄할 때 비로서 늙는 것이다.
歲月은 皮膚에 주름살을 생기게 하지만, 그러나
熱誠을 저버리는 것은 마음에 주름살을 생기게 하는 것이다.
걱정, 疑心,自己不信, 恐怖 그리고 絶望
이런 것들은 고개를 숙이게 하며
자라나는 精神을 다시 흙으로 돌아가게 하는 것이다.

Whether 60 or 16,
There is every being's heart
The love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars
And  the star-like things and thoughts,
The undaunted challenge of events,
The unfailing childlike appetite for what-next,
And the joy of the game of living.
나이가 60歲이건 16歲이건
모든 사람의 가슴 한구석에는
驚異에 對한 사랑, 별이나 별과 같은 事物과 思想에 對한 달콤함의 놀라움,
周圍에서 일어나는 일에 怯 없는 挑戰이 있으며
다음엔 무엇이 있을까 하는 無窮無盡한 童心 같은 好奇心,
그리고 삶의 遊戱에 對한 喜悅이 있는 것이다.

You are young as your faith
As old as your doubt.
As young as your self-confidence,
As old as your fear,
As young as your hope,
As old as your despair.
So long as your heart receives massages of beauty,
Cheer, Courage, grandeur and power from the earth,
From man and from the infinite.
So long are you young.
當身은 當身 믿음만큼 젊으며
疑心만큼 늙는 것이며
自信만큼 젊고 恐怖만큼 늙는 것이다.
또한 希望만큼 젊고, 絶望만큼 늙는 것이다
當身의 가슴이 大地로 부터
人間으로 부터 그리고 神으로 부터 美와
歡呼와 勇氣와 莊嚴과 그리고 힘의 메시지를 받고 있는 限,
當身은 젊은 것이다.

When the wires are all down, and
All the central places of your heart
Are covered with the snows of pessimism
And the ice of cynicism
Then, and only then
Are you grown old indeed
And may God have mercy on your soul.
"live everyday of your life with enthusiasm
As though you expert to live forever"
그 메시지 戰線이 쓰러지고
가슴 中樞部가
悲觀의 눈과 冷笑의 얼음으로 덮여 있을 때,
當身은 늙게 되는 것이며
바로 그때
神의 加護를 빌어야만 한다.
"一生의 하루하루를 永遠히 살 수 있는 것처럼 意欲을 지니고 살아라."[?]
