A peep into the exclusive IWRM Africa 2012 Masterclasses

In addition to 20 other ‘hot’ fundraising topics, this year we have an improved Masterclass programme. The details of the four Masterclasses are as follows:

A lot has changed in the world of fundraising. Tough economic times have made raising money more difficult, but social media has made it easier for NGOs to communicate. The magical personal touch enhanced by social media cannot be underestimated when it comes to fundraising. This Masterclass is specially designed for 21st century NGOs and individual fundraisers who are enthusiastic and eager to explore the dynamic and expanding opportunities to capitalise on social media. Maximise funding for your cause using an array of mobile and internet-based tools including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube!

This Masterclass is aimed at organisational and fundraising leaders of small, medium and large NGOs. The core objective of the class is to support leaders with significant people management responsibility to explore modern leadership and management practices in a fundraising context, share fundraising best practice with like-minded peers from other organisations across Africa, and to enhance their role in leading fundraising innovation and management of fundraising performance.

Institutional funding forms a key area within the fundraising portfolio for many small and large NGOs, partly because of the low investment required to secure significant amounts of funding through grants. However, developing successful applications to major international institutions such as the EU, NORAD, DFID, USAID, the UN, The World Bank and others is a highly professional task and requires one to have the current trends, economic environment and political shifts at their fingertips. This highly interactive Masterclass will awaken delegates to the realities of the economic environment and political shifts that are influencing the traditional institutional fundraising sector and will also reveal new emerging donors and opportunities.

Corporate partnerships can represent substantial and sustainable income source for those who can present a credible value for money proposition. This hands-on Masterclass presents five vital components for developing a sustainable corporate strategy including how to tap into the private sector, Skills and tips for identifying corporate prospects, Crafting a creative corporate proposal. and Small group work. The Masterclass will culminate in delegates presenting their proposals to a corporate executive meeting and receiving constructive feedback.
